I am a specialist woodwind teacher and I currently teach clarinet and saxophone at Chellaston Academy.


I am an accredited peripatetic music teacher working in many schools in Derby City and Derbyshire.


I also perform in orchestras in musical productions.


Students who receive tuition are given the opportunity to enter for music examinations with ABRSM

and Trinity exam boards up to grade 8.

Jon Morris

Jon Morris has been teaching singing full time for around 10 years and part time for around 15 years. Learn to sing with a healthy technique that gives your voice freedom and can be applied to all styles of singing. This allows you to enjoy singing more. Singing can boost confidence and communication skills.


Each lesson will be tailored to your needs, wishes and can include any of the following elements:


• Vocal technique building

• Confidence building

• Performance coaching

• Singing Grade examinations

• Music Theory Grade examinations

• Aural Training

Lessons are usually 30 mins per week on Thursdays, either individually or shared if you want. I try to rotate the lessons over two weeks.

Jeremy Hampton BA (YORK) PGCE

I have been teaching at Chellaston academy since 1997.


Lessons are available on both piano and keyboard.


As well as teaching piano and keyboard I am also an experienced organist  and accompanist.


Exams are available on both piano( ABRSM ) and keyboard (Trinity) up to Grade 8.

Kevin Holdgate

I teach the brass instrumentalists in school and have had considerable success over a number of years. Many of my pupils have achieved Grade 8 and continue to play since they have left the academy.


I am a composer, arranger and orchestrator for Brass band, Wind Band, Orchestra and brass ensemble. I also have continued interests in Jazz and


I am a regular guest in big bands and jazz ensembles around the country. I also run a jazz combo called ‘Simply Swing’ which appears regularly around the midlands.

Nick Peach

Mr Peach is our peripatetic guitar teacher.  He works with the Derby and Derbyshire Music Partnership, has a LRSL teaching diploma and has been teaching guitar at Chellaston School since 2005.


Guitar lessons are available to pupils for classical, acoustic, and electric guitar.  Pupils are taught on a one to one basis with the opportunity to work towards attaining guitar grades if they wish to do so.  Exams are available with Trinity and Rockschool up to Grade 8.
