Extended Learning (SEND)

Welcome to the SEND Department at Chellaston Academy!

Our Extended Learning team is a knowledgeable and experienced group of professionals dedicated to supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our team includes:

• Our wonderful Learning Mentors and Teaching Assistants
• Mrs S Starbuck – SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
• Mrs L Hassall – Deputy SENCo
• Mrs S Stratton – SEND Administrator
• Mrs D Eyre – Deputy Headteacher of SEND and Inclusion
• Mrs K Venables – SEND Governor

We work closely with all our colleagues across the school, the trust, and the wider community to make sure every student with SEND gets the support they need. Our approach is all about teamwork and working together to make sure each student thrives.

Alongside our in-house team, we also hold service level agreements with specialists, such as:

• Evolutionary Mindset – Educational Psychology
• Flourish – Speech and Language Therapy
• Ms D Cox  – Specialist Dyslexia Teacher and Exams Assessor

In addition, we work closely with external agencies such as

• Occupational Therapy
• Visual and Hearing Impairment Services
• STePS Autism Outreach Service
• Emotional health and well-being services
