Sixth Form students are expected to wear smart, professional clothing that would be appropriate in a workplace. Our relaxed tailoring dress code means that students do not need to wear a full suit or tie, but they must look presentable and work-ready throughout the Academy day.

Students should wear:

• Smart, tailored clothing in any colour or appropriate pattern
• A shirt, formal sleeved blouse or other smart, sleeved top
• Smart trousers or a skirt of an appropriate length
• Smart footwear with toes covered for health and safety
• A Sixth Form lanyard

Jumpers, suit jackets, blazers and ties are optional.

Casual or leisure clothing is not permitted. This includes jeans, joggers, leggings, vests, hoodies, T-shirts, crop tops, trainers, flip-flops, sliders, Crocs and sandals.

Extreme hairstyles, unnatural hair colours and long false or acrylic nails are not permitted. Facial piercings such as rings, hoops, hooks and bars are also prohibited. Students may wear a single nose stud and stud or small-hoop earrings.

Students may be placed in RICE if their clothing or appearance is considered inappropriate or deliberately breaches these expectations. The Academy reserves the right to determine whether a student meets the required standard of smart, professional and work-ready dress.

Mobile Phones

In line with government guidance, mobile phones are not permitted in the main school.

Sixth Form students may use their phones only in:

• C Hall
• The Library

The Independent Learning Centre (ILC) is a mobile-phone-free zone. Mobile phones and wireless earphones, including AirPods, must not be used or taken out in the ILC or anywhere else around the Academy.

The same restrictions apply to smartwatches. Outside the permitted Sixth Form areas, all mobile phones, wireless earphones and smartwatches must remain out of sight.

Driving

Student cars are not allowed on site at any time. Students are not permitted to arrange driving lessons during the school day. Attendance at Driving Theory and Practical tests will be authorised providing the absence is requested in advance and evidence provided.

If you choose to park in the roads around the school, please be aware that our neighbours may need to be able to get in and out of their drives during the day. Please ensure that you park thoughtfully, legally and are not overlapping anyone’s driveway.  Please see the parking guide from the RAC, which gives advice on where you can and can’t park.
