Member Opportunities – Peak Multi Academy Trust

(Voluntary Governance Position)

Peak Multi Academy Trust is a small Multi-Academy Trust currently in the early stages of its

formation, having come together initially in April 2019. The Trust consists of four schools: Chellaston

Infant School; Chellaston Junior School, Homefields Primary School and Chellaston Academy.

We are very excited about the journey that we are embarking upon as a family of schools as we

continue the work that we do to positively impact on the young people within our schools. Together

we hope to build stronger opportunities, broader experiences and greater life chances for the

children within our community.

The Trust is committed to providing the very best educational opportunities for children and young

people and has established four simple principles that define our ethos and underpin the work that

we do:

People - “Sometimes the most ordinary things could be made extraordinary, simply by doing them

with the right people.” Elizabeth Green

Enjoyment - “What we learn with pleasure we never forget.” Alfred Mercier

Achievement - “High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.” Charles Kettering

Knowledge - “Seeking knowledge creates courage.” George Bernard Shaw

The Trust vision, detailed below, brings clarity to our purpose and focus:

“Life is a journey and nobody’s path is certain in this rapidly changing world. Together we are stronger.

We will guide and inspire you along the way. When you let go of our hand, you and I will know that

you will choose the path that is best for you.”

As a Trust, we take pride of our commitment to providing all pupils with a high-quality education and

are currently looking for skilled and motivated volunteers to add to our team of Members for the

Trust. We are seeking individuals that are committed to improving education and making a positive

difference to the lives of our pupils. Members play a limited yet distinct and critical role in the Trust

by assessing if the Board of Trustees is performing well and ensuring that the charitable objects of the

Trust are being met. Their role in the running of the trust is minimal and one of oversight.

As a Member, you should have the necessary time, commitment, skills and expertise to contribute to

the Trust’s strategic focus and direction. The role will involve attending one meeting per year and

occasional contributions to work outside of those meetings. Most meetings are held in the evening at

Chellaston Academy.

Applications are welcomed from individuals who feel that they have the skills and experience

necessary to fulfil the role, particularly those with previous experience of working within governance

roles.

If you believe that you might have a role to play in fulfilling a rewarding position, we look forward to

hearing from you. To formally express an interest in the role, please send a copy of your CV along with

a completed Governor Application Form outlining why you are interested in the opportunity and how

you think you can make an impact to our governing board to: Stephanie Dakin, PA to the CEO:

s.dakin@peakmat.uk by Friday 22nd May 2020.

Should you want further information or an informal discussion about the nature of the role and the work

of the Trust beforehand, please get in contact.

Peak Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and

young adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. These posts are
