Chellaston Academy GCSE Results 2024-25 Press Release

Chellaston Academy students are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results.

This summer’s GCSE grade highlights include:

  • Three quarters of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and mathematics.
  • Half of students achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and mathematics.
  • The average grade across all GCSE and Level 2 entries is a grade 5.
  • Half of all students achieved at least one grade 7.

All of our 300 Year 11s sat examinations, and a large proportion are staying on at Chellaston Academy sixth form to study A Levels and vocational qualifications.

Phil Smith, Headteacher, Chellaston Academy, which is part of QEGSMAT, said: “I am pleased with the examination results achieved by our wonderful Year 11 students.  We are really proud that their hard work has secured successful and exciting opportunities for their next stages in life.”

He added: “These achievements reflect the ethos that we strive for at Chellaston Academy, where successfully developing our young people personally as well as academically provides fruitful transitions to the next part in their story.  All of this success would not be possible without the dedication and support from every member of staff at the school, and I would like to thank them all.

“We would like to say a special well done to A Rasul who has achieved grade 9’s in all of her subjects.  Also, Emily Whitehead, Samuel Wood, Isla Williams, Nathan Biring, Rebecca Mills, Damon Kwok and Jack Williams who achieved an average grade between a grade 8 and a grade 9.  These are phenomenal achievements, well done.”

Nathan Biring, 16, achieved 10 GCSEs including five grade 9s, four grade 8s and one grade 7, is going to study three A Levels in biology, chemistry and Spanish. Nathan said: “I feel surprised and excited about my results.”

Daniella Kabanda Lubyayi, 16, whose GCSEs results include three grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s and one grade 6 as well as a Level 2 distinction, is going on to college to study film studies, sociology and creative media. Daniella said: “I feel proud of myself.”

Alfred Kirkham, 16, achieved 10 GCSEs including four grade 9s, one grade 8, one grade 7, three grade 6s and one grade 5, and is going on to sixth form to study A Level computer science, maths and physics. Alfred said: “I am happy with most of my results.”

William Austin, 16, whose results included two grade 9s, two grade 8s, three grade 7s and one grade 5, is going on to college to study three A Levels in chemistry, geography and geology. William said: “I feel very good. I’ve achieved everything I needed and wanted.”

Mark Mallender, Chief Executive Officer, QEGSMAT, added: “Well done to Chellaston Academy pupils. I would like to wish them every success for the future and thank all of the staff for their commitment, hard work and fantastic support this year.”
