Year 6 Transition
Year 6 students have been into the academy this week and have met their form tutors and spent two days with their form groups. They enjoyed lessons in English, Maths, History and Geography, and particularly enjoyed getting their Bunsen Burner licences in Science.
Thursday 6th July 2017 was our first Achievement Awards Evening.
Over 500 people were in attendance to witness more than 80 awards being given to students from Years 7-11.
Students Emmy Jones and Aimee Stratton recently took part in a dance workshop with Jennifer Ellison in our very own sports hall! The event was organised by Upbeat Community Dance and was a wonderful experience for all involved.

Message from the Headteacher
I feel privileged, having been appointed in September 2015, to be only the third Headteacher of this Academy since it opened in 1977. The ongoing continuity that this provides has given the Academy a distinctive and strong ethos in which we expect all students, regardless of ability, to maximise their progress which will lead to high levels of achievement.
We want everyone to be proud to be a part of our community. We want our students to feel safe and that they belong. This can be achieved through high expectations of both students and staff both in terms of professional standards and good behaviour which lead to students having the right to learn and staff having the right to teach.
Occasionally, it is sometimes necessary to split the newsletter into three editions; a general newsletter and also two further editions containing information specific to Year 10 and Year 11.
