Duke Of Edinburgh

On Friday 25th -Sunday 27th March 108 Chellaston Y9 students completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh practice/training weekend. It was a very long weekend but ALL students did a fantastic job, and we were very proud of each and every child that took part this weekend.

Over the course of the three days students worked on navigation, route planning, map skills, campcraft (including pitching tents and cooking on a stove), first aid and emergency procedure before completing a practice walk.

Half the groups started at Foremark Reservoir and walked around the surrounding areas, the other half started at Staunton Harold Reservoir and walked towards Calke Abbey. We saw a huge development in all our students as they learned how to work as a team to overcome challenges and pushed themselves both mentally and physically.

Well done to all who took part!
