Dear Parents and Carers,

Chellaston Academy was visited by Ofsted on the 17th and 18th of May 2022.  I have attached a copy of the report for you to have a look at via the link below:

Ofsted Report

Although, I was not Headteacher for this inspection, I am disappointed in so many elements of the report and I want to reassure the community that significant steps have already been put in place.  From my brief time as proud Headteacher at Chellaston Academy I have witnessed and experienced a wonderful community, where the vast majority of our students flourish in a safe and orderly environment.  I have been made to feel welcome by parents, staff and most importantly our amazing students.  I want to thank all of the young people at Chellaston Academy for supporting and engaging with the school culture of Integrity, Care and Excellence and I want you to stay positive despite some of the negative commentary in the inspection report.  My first assembly to you all was about ‘resilience’, now is the time for us all to show how resilient we can all be.  I passionately believe that we will work together to fulfil your dreams.

I appreciate that the outcome of the report will raise questions and concerns across the school community.  Therefore, I am going to open up an online platform for parents to ask questions about the inspection report or the school.  I will then synthesise these in a FAQ style response.  The link to this platform is – https://chellaston.fireflycloud.net/surveys-4/post-ofsted-questions.  It is hosted on our Firefly system and will therefore require you to sign in with your Firefly account.

I have also attached a copy of the schools press release following the inspection via the link below:
