Dear parents and carers,

Happy New Year from everybody at Chellaston Academy!

Just to let you know, the return to school and lateral flow testing plan will go ahead as previously communicated with you at the end of last term.

For your convenience, please see below the lateral flow testing timetable:

For the next two days we will be providing remote learning provision (Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th January) We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support throughout this time.

All year groups (expect year 12 and 13 due to study leave)  will have a live remote form time session with their form tutor from 8.40am -9.00am The Teams link will be placed on the Firefly page for their form tutor within the year group area. Tutors will also send the link out to students.

Lessons will be set in the Firefly remote learning area for each year group and your child should work through these in the order shown on their timetable. All lessons will start at the same time as their normal timetable. There is no expectation for teachers to be on a Live Teams remote learning lesson for the full duration of the lesson.

We recognise that LFT testing sometimes clashes with live lessons therefore when this is the case staff will set learning tasks in the appropriate learning area on FireFly for the year group and class in question.

Please note that if a member of staff is ill, the work will be set by staff in the department and this will be available on our Firefly learning platform and therefore a live lesson will not be able to take place.

We recognise that some families may have to share laptops or computers at home due to other siblings wanting to access our remote learning at the same time. All remote learning can also be accessed from any tablet or mobile phone and we would recommend students to use their phone if this is an issue.

Although we have a limited amount of digital devices to support this issue, if this is having a detrimental effect on their learning please get in contact with us. We will review this on a case by case basis.

Just a reminder that the tutorial video below explains how to access remote learning on Firefly if you have forgotten how to do so.
